Remembrance Day Tour 2022
Thursday 10th November
Meet in Dover and take the train to Calais. Lunch in Calais. An afternoon visit to Dunkirk and its Museum, then travel up to Ypres to stay in the New Hotel Regina.
Friday 11th November
In the morning, attend the service in St George's Memorial Church then follow the ceremonies at the Belgian War Memorial and under the Menin Gate. Following lunch in Nieuwkerke a battlefield tour in the Salient to include visits to Duhallows ADS Cemetery and Essex Farm Cemetery, the 1915 front line around Wieltje and finally Seaforth Cemetery, Cheddar Villa. Evening Reception and Dinner in Les Halles.
Saturday 12th November
Travel down to the Somme, our first stop to visit, in particular, the grave of 16204 Private Fergie Thomson, MM, (Great-Uncle of Andrew who is one of our party) in Thilloy Road Cemetery, Beaulencourt. We move onto Bancourt and its Military Cemetery. Following lunch a tour of the area around Thiepval, Hamel, Bertrancourt with the newly erected Linfield Football Club Memorial then Forceville Communal Cemetery and Extension.
Sunday 13th November
A tour south to include Contalmaison and McCare's Battalion Cairn, Fricourt to visit the German Cemetery and one the grave sites of Manfred von Richthofen, Fricourt British and New British Cemeteries. Continue down the line to Méricourt-l'Abbé Communal Cemetery Extension followed by Heilly Station Cemetery, finally to Pozières where we will stop for our final lunch before returning to Calais.
